Sydney to Host Vaulting Nationals and CVI

The fifteenth annual Australian Vaulting championships will be held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre 15-18 September, 2011.

The event which incorporates the third-ever international vaulting event (CVI) to be held in Australia, will showcase the best of Australian Vaulting. 

International judges Sue Detol (USA) who judged at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, Frank Spadinger (AUT) and Australia’s only FEI level judge Angie Deeks from Queensland will judge the CVI.
Eighty-five vaulters from across Australia are expected to take part in the competition including Australia’s leading competitors. 2010 World Games representatives Krystle Lander, Lani Maher and Lee Briggs will be among the line-up. Queensland’s Jerri Butt and Emma Moulds from South Australia will bring home the international experience gained during a recent trip competing at European CVIs. Lani Maher is another vaulter who has been honing her skills aboard. Maher recently returned from training and competing in the USA.
The CVI will also welcome international competitors. Emma Kalliomaa (FIN), who competed in the 2010 NSW Vaulting Championships, is returning to compete while Germany will be represented by Bekki Wilpert who has been based in Australia for the past twelve months. American vaulter Patrick Stevens will be competing in Australia for the first time.
The ability to host international competition in Australia is a clear indication of the growth of this exciting sport.
On Saturday evening, 17 September, the vaulting community will celebrate 21 years of vaulting being an Equestrian Australia recognised sport. A few good laughs over old footage and memorabilia can be expected.
