The 2016 Australian National Dressage Championships: 20-23 October
The Australian National Dressage Championships are among the most significant Dressage events on the Australian National Sporting Calendar. As well as being a World Cup Qualifier CDI-W & CDI-Y and Para Equestrian Championships.
It is an event NOT to be missed! Offering a massive Programme of 4 days of Spectacular Equestrian Performance including Novice to Grand Prix and GP Freestyle; the KUR, Freestyle to music all day and all night on Saturday! In order to determine our Australian Dressage Champions.
Australia has sent a Dressage Team to every Olympic Games since Sydney 2000 And this year all eyes are on Rio and beyond to TOKYO !
The standard formula for FEI World and continental championships and the Olympic Games consists of Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle - the Kur!
For many riders it’s a massive manoeuvre getting themselves, their equine partners and their ‘ground crew’ to the fabulous arena complex at SIEC near Sydney’s Olympic Park. Travelling to this year’s Championships are riders from Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand and this year they can relax and unwind in the “new” Championships Hub, lounge and dining area.
Another person travelling the many kilometers across the sky (as opposed to the desert) this year is Peter Holler, who will be judging at this year’s Nationals.
He has recently been officiating at ‘Dressage at Devon’ a premier North American equestrian event in Pennsylvania, and prior to that, judged at the World Cup in Las Vegas. He has recently been selected on to the ground jury for the Rio Olympics. He is on the FEI panel of International 5* judges and officiates at major shows in Germany and around the world.
This Year Spectators can enjoy the event in style. Complete with champagne and a 3 course, 4* dinner at the Top Spot Marquee, located overlooking the spectacular indoor arena! or for those who want to concentrate on the performance rather than the sumptuous food, the stadium itself seats over 1100 people. The Nationals are a great opportunity to browse through the extensive Trade Village, and enjoy the Young Horse spectacular.
