Toowoomba Dressage Darling Downs Young Horse Championships: Results & Photos

On 11 January 2014 Toowoomba Dressage Incorporated held their Darling Downs Young Horse Championships. Over the day we ran two classes for each age group starting with the four year old classes in the morning. 

We had great entries for this competition with 17 horses and 2 ponies for the four year old, 5 horses and 1 pony for the six year old and 4 horses in the six year old. With a total of 29 entries we filled an entire day for all of the riders and horses. Being only allowed to have 35 entries for a young horse competition this was great.

Along with Horsezone’s generous sponsorship we also had a number of local studs and business on board. Our other generous sponsors included Horseland Toowoomba, Dr Show, Remi Stud, Highfields Equestrian Centre and Muller Bloodstock. Each sponsor was offered to display their promotional material as well as opportunity to promote their products in our rider’s bags over the weekend.

Our rider bags included- a catalogue, lanyard, keyring and jellybeans from Horseland Toowoomba, bucket hats from Muller Bloodstock, flyers from Remi Stud, fridge magnets and chocolates from Highfields Equestrian Centre and rug was samples from Dr Show. The rider bags were a huge success with many wearing their Muller Bloodstock hats and lanyards around for the rest of the competition. We also had the sponsors banners hung up around the indoor arena as well as the grandstand.

Along with our rider bags and banners we also had a program for the day which included all of our sponsors within the program. We printed over 50 copies of these and handed them out in the rider bags and to spectators on the day; I have also attached the program to the email.

Horsezone’s sponsorship went towards prizes that were given out and the Champion and Reserve Champion sashes for the overall winners of each young horse class as shown in the photos attached.

The competition has had some great feedback from judges, competitors as well as spectators that attended this event about how it ran smoothly and everyone was friendly. Toowoomba Dressage will be running this event each year to assist riders and young horses in getting qualifying scores for the Championships later on in the year.
