Our July ODE went very well. Numbers were down a bit as the Interschool State champs were the week before. We had over 185 in total over the 2 events. Kathy Humphrey, the CD for Interschool and our ODE was able to do a bit of course changing so riders doing both had a few different challenges. Our club is also the venue for the National Interschool championships in September. 

Anthony Freeman did a great job translating Kathy’s designs into real jumps. The Thomas the Tank Bank looked sensational. The art work for Thomas was done by Marishka ,an art student at USQ. The nest of eggs at the water looked great and will be joined by 2 ducks for the next event.

The Prydes Young Event horse competition was in a smaller format this time as our club was forced to change our dates by Eventing Qld and so our October date, our normal ODE date will have the WHT CIC the week before it and the TEG CCI 3 weeks after it, so we would have much reduced numbers for our October event when we have traditionally run the YEH. Megan Drennan devised a new format in which there was not a judge from interstate and the horses were placed on their placing in their class with weighting on horses in higher levels e.g. preliminary versus introductory horses.

All the riders and their families and helpers enjoyed having the free drinks and nibbles while they watched the Star Showjumping. Guy Creighton did the CD and Averil Hawthorne was the judge for both days, thanks to them both for their great work.Guy as usual set the star riders a difficult task,making it a great event to watch.
