The Equestrian Victoria Horse of the Year Show, held 15-16 March at Werribee Park, proved to be an extremely successful outing for John De Marco, with his two Riding Ponies Kolbeach Crown and Kolbeach Artist and large hack, Ultimate.

The show featured good entry numbers and top quality horses across all events, making John even more excited about winning four Championships  with his three horses.  "We had a fantastic show. I couldn't have asked for a better result. To come home with all of the horses winning Championships was just amazing!"

Kolbeach Crown with Linda Hayes in the saddle, won the Newcomer Large Show Hunter Pony Championship and then went on to win the Open Large Show Hunter Pony Championship.

Next it was the turn of galloway, Kolbeach Artist ridden by Greg Mickan, who showed his star quality by winning the Newcomer Galloway over 14.2 & ne 15hh Championship.

Last but certainly not least was Ultimate, also ridden by Greg Mickan, who won the Racing Victoria Large Hack Over 16hh Championship. This was a very fitting event for the stunning Zabeel gelding to win, as he is an ex-racehorse purchased by John at the March 2011 Inglis sale in Melbourne. John then gave Ultimate to Terry Van Heythuysen and Greg Mickan to prepare him for the show ring. Since then the lovely gelding has been extremely successful in his short show career and took out Champion Hack at Adelaide Royal last year.
