Update on Shetland Dragged by Car

Published on Friday, January 7, 2011 in General

Further to Horsezone's previous report about the Shetland pony (named Elf), who was cruelly dragged by a car on Christmas Day at Murphys Creek, Queensland, Micheal Beatty from the RSPCA today confirmed that  some progress has been made with Elf.

Elf has been receiving intensive treatment for his horrible injuries and whilst his condition remains serious, at this stage the RSPCA have decided that the cause is certainly not hopeless. Mr Beatty advised, "Elf is comfortable enough, so it’s been decided to continue treatment until after the weekend, when we will again reassess his condition."

Elf's treatment is costing approximately $200 per day and with the RSPCA's resources being taken up at the moment by flood rescues, we encourage anyone who is able to spare some cash - please donate to the RSPCA who are currently being swamped by animals in need.

Meanwhile, let's keep caring for and treasuring our animals, doing all we can to prevent them from falling into the hands of such vicious individuals as those who so badly mistreated Elf.  It is inconceivable to think that while so much tragedy is happening with the floods, which is an unpreventable natural disaster, people could deliberately set out to hurt a defenceless pony.

id like to know if Elfs owners have been found or if they want him or if he is up for adoption.....id love to take care of him , at least then he has a female shetland for company here on 7 acres, and would be treated as a treasure, poor thing .hope he doesnt hate people after this.it would be a shame.
