VAS Ltd Saddle Horse Championships - Results

The annual VAS Ltd Saddle Horse Championships are a chance for the show horse fraternity to catch up in the easy surrounds of the Bendigo Showgrounds.

Rain, wind or shine Horse exhibitors competed at the 15th VAS Ltd Saddle Horse Championships, which provided an assortment of weather conditions for competitors and spectators.

Competition was keen across the board at the Championships, held on the weekend of the 6 - 8 January 2012, at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Bendigo. The competitor friendly event attracted exhibitors and riders from across the state and border areas. Horsezone was proud to be one of the sponsors of this event. 

The Championships were conceived as an occasion for people who show horses at country shows to come together and compete against the best in the state and this was again the case over the weekend at Bendigo with the best animals from Victoria on display.

The committee introduced this year two new sections to the Championships, a half a day of led classes on Friday and the inaugural VAS turnout class the ‘Horsezone Equine Award of Excellence’, which was won by Kerryn Golder riding Chandon Park Contender. Lilly McEvoy came a close second on Towering Inferno and Breeanna Hickson WF Imagination came third.

On Saturday 27 young horse enthusiasts competed in the ‘Good Hands’ event. ‘Good Hands’ is run at a local show level to encourage young people keen to improve. The winner of each good hands event at a VAS affiliated show gains automatic entry into the Good Hands class at the VAS Saddle Horse. Miss Emma Mitchell was the overall winner of the 2012 Good Hands class.
