Vehicle Towing Horsefloat Involved in Fatal Accident

Published on Sunday, January 9, 2011 in General

The NSW Police Force have reported that a man died after his utility and a 4WD towing a horsefloat collided north west of Albury on Sunday morning.

The crash happened at 1am on the Corowa-Urana Road at Daysdale, about 70km from Albury.

Police believe a white Toyota Hilux utility was travelling east when it, and a silver Toyota Prado, collided head-on.

The driver and only occupant of the ute died at the scene.

The driver of the Prado, a 40-year-old woman from Taminic in Victoria, suffered chest and spinal injuries, while her eight-year-old daughter, travelling in the front passenger seat, escaped with bruising to her legs and abdomen.

They were taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment.

One lane was closed for six hours but traffic was not affected.

Two horses being transported in the float escaped serious injury but were checked by a vet this morning.
