Colleen O'Brian, president of the Victorian Brumby Association, is currently in Vienna addressing the Wild Equid Conference.
The conference is the first of its kind and celebrates the successful reintroduction of the Przewalski Wild Horse back into the wild in Mongolia 20 years ago.
Topics covered will relate to both wild and feral horses from Australia, Europe, Africa and the US, including brumbies, mustangs, wild onagers (the Asiatic wild ass) and zebras.
"Being at this conference allows us to not only present the current situation in Australia to the worldwide wild horse community, but also to learn from other countries," Ms O'Brien said.
The Victorian Brumby Association has rescued and re-homed nearly 280 brumbies since 2007. It lobbies to improve the management of wild brumbies and runs educational clinics for brumby owners.
