Published on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Sponsored Shows

The dust has now settled on the 2012 Barastoc National Polocrosse Championships and the WA Teams are all making the long trek home. A big congratulations to our sponsored team, the WA Under 24 Women's on coming third for their grade at the Nationals!

Here is the final report from them about their thrilling last game...

The final game of the Nationals for the WA side was against Vitoria at 8am on a very cold and drizzly Saturday morning. Having rained all night the ground were wet and slippery. As the game would decide the third and fourth places for the grade, State pride was on the line. The first chukka of Lauren Cant, Jill Warner and Hannah Watkin came out hard and put on a lead of 4 goals to 2. The second chukka of Tia Hall, Hailey Martin and Shana Hall hollowed suit with 3 goals to 2. After the third chukka WA were leading by 2 goals. In the fourth chukka Sandy Corbett came on as a two, in her last game on her beloved horse Smiley and immediately made her presence felt. That chukka saw the team going up 4 goals to 2. The fifth chukka saw a comeback from Victoria who outscored WA 5 goals to 2. With wonderful play from the two Hall sisters, WA steadied in the last chukka and scored a match winning 5 goals to 2 running out winners 19 goals to 16.

So in the 2012 Nationals WA Under 24 Women’s have come third. It has been a very close competition with strong teams and high class games. The team would sincerely like to thank all their sponsors for their generous support leading up to and at the Nationals.

Well done to all the teams and save travels home for the WA competitors!
