WA Women's Under 24 Team Battle it Out at Barastoc Polocrosse Nationals
Our sponsored team, the WA Women's Under 24 Team, have been battling it out at the Polocrosse Nationals this week. Following are their updates from Wednesday and Friday's games...
The second game on Wednesday against NSW did not go to plan unfortunately. We were aware that after previously being beaten by Queensland, NSW would be on a mission to ensure they stayed in the competition. And so they were! Despite some glimpses of hope WA was outscored in every chukka except two – the fourth and sixth where Tia Hall, Hannah Watkin and Sharna Hall produced some great play to go up by an aggregate of 8 to 4. Tia Hall in particular shot some terrific goals under pressure. Despite every endeavour WA went down 12 to 22.
On Friday, unfortunately it was not to be. Despite a strong start, WA were unable to overcome an extremely slick Queensland side. After a great WA start, Queensland eventually pulled away with a final result of 20 to 10. Coach Pearl Marriott tried various combinations however the competition was just too strong on the day for us.
The Team played again on Saturday morning and then they were looking forward to a big party!
