What's on at PSI Dressage and Jumping With the Stars?

Finally, this year’s PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars is here and there will be three days and nights of exciting action with almost 300 horses competing and the attraction of the international guest stars Ingrid Klimke, Greg Best, Dr Ulf Moeller and Annabel Frenzen!

Thursday March 24
An early start for competitors and spectators – the 4yo ponies start at 7.45am in the indoor and then it’s non-stop action as the 5yo ponies follow and then the 4yo and 5yo horses with the last group of 5yo horses scheduled to go at 6.40pm.

Outdoors is also busy – the first round of the young jumping horse classes start with the Greystone 4yo Championship at 8am and continue through until approx. 2.30pm on Brunos lawn and the small tour dressage horses do their Prix St Georges test in arena 2 between 10am and 3.15pm.

The first of the Saddleworld Masterclasses will feature both guest stars - Ingrid Klimke and Greg Best – as they jointly present “Preparing the Equine Athlete” from 7pm

Friday March 25
Another early start for the PSI Australian Young Dressage Horse Championship competitors in the indoor arena with the 6yo horses commencing their first round test from
8am and the 5yo horses doing their second round test between 10.00am and 11.40am. The top 10 placed 6yo horses will return for their second round test at 4.15pm.

Between 12noon and 2pm, the 5yo ponies will do their second round test, as will the 6yo pony. From 2pm, pony dressage fans will want to watch Annabel Frenzen, a European
Pony Championship team gold medallist and a 2011 German Young Rider Team Squad member, test ride the top 3 placed 4yo ponies to determine the final placings. Annabel
will be back in the saddle from 6.10pm as she test rides the top 3 finalists in the 5yo Championship, along with the 6yo pony.

Between 12.30 and 3.30pm on outdoor arena 2 more than 20 Grand Prix horses and riders will face the international judging panel in the Equestrian Australia & Australian Sports
Commission CDI-W Grand Prix in their quest to achieve a qualifying score for the 2012 London Olympics.

Round 2 of the Young Jumping Championships commences at 8am with competitors in the Waterview Park 7yo Championship. From 3pm the jumps are raised for the ACE Group
Grand Prix over a 1.35m track, with more than 30 horses entered including several past Jumping “Champions of Champions” – Valhalla 3 (Jamie Kermond) and Glenara Bollinger
(Melissa Froesch) .

Fans of Ingrid Klimke can meet her at 2.30pm at the Saddleworld/PSI marquee in the middle of the trade village, for autographs and book signings.

DJWTS regular visitor, Dr Ulf Moeller, will again be presenting the PSI Mini Masterclass on Friday afternoon from 3pm - 4pm and will also be available in the Saddleworld/PSI marquee in the trade village at 2pm for a presentation and discussion on buying a horse from PSI.

Friday night and it’s the Intermediate I Freestyle between 7 and 9.30pm in the indoor arena, which completes the Prix St Georges Cup competition.

Saturday March 26
What an exciting day this will be ! Starting with the CDI-Y Freestyle for the young riders at 9am in the indoor to be followed from 10.15am by Ingrid Klimke riding the top 3 placed 4yo, 5yo and 6yo horses to assess their rideability and potential, with her score influencing the final placings.

Outdoors, the Young Jumping Horse Championships will be decided with the Finals running between 8am and 1.30pm.

The Saddleworld Dressage Masterclass with Ingrid Klimke from 2-3.30pm is a “must watch” as will be the judging of the Jumping Champion of Champions at 4pm, followed by the
Saddleworld Jumping Masterclass with Greg Best.

Last chance at 4.30pm to meet Ingrid Klimke for a book signing or autograph at the Saddleworld/PSI marquee in the trade village.

New this year, a Stallion Showcase will run from 6.15-6.45pm on arena one presenting eight stallions to the audience.

From 7pm the action moves indoors with the spectator’s favourite session, the judging of the Dressage “Champion of Champions” and then follows the Equestrian Australia & Australian Sports Commission CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle which is shaping up to be a fantastic finish to the event.

Sunday March 27

All young horse judges, trainers and riders will want to front up at 9am for the Young Horse Clinic conducted by Dr Ulf Moeller and international judge Susie Hoevenaars. Tickets cost $50 and will be available at the silver ticket entrance.

It’s going to be another great event. Don’t miss it ! Bronze tickets and a very limited number of silver tickets are available at the event. If you can’t make it, follow the competition results with the live scoring via the event website.
