World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen Gets Underway

More than 380 riders from around the world have gathered in Aachen, Germany for the 2011 World Equestrian Festival, CHIO.

One of the most prestigious Equestrian competitions in the world, more than 25 countries will be represented across the week of festivities across five disciplines – Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving and Vaulting.
Australia is well represented across the competition, with the following riders flying the Aussie flag:

Jumping

Edwina Alexander

Eventing

Clayton Fredericks
Lucinda Fredericks
Sam Griffiths
Chris Burton
Paul Tapner

Dressage

Mary Hanna
Lyndal Oatley
Hayley Beresford

Driving

Boyd Exell

Vaulting

Krystle Lander  
The Vaulting competition took place last Friday, with Krystle representing Australia. Krystle placed 22nd in the Compulsory and 21st in the Freestyle.
Competition will start to ramp up as of tomorrow (Wednesday afternoon Australian time), with the Jumping, Dressage and Driving competition.
Boyd Exell will be looking to defend his title and maintain his strong hold in Driving.
