Zara Phillips Successful at Horse Trials in Ireland

Published on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in General

Zara Phillips isn't worried about the rumours that her husband, Mike Tindall, was misbehaving with another blonde in New Zealand recently, she's been too busy focusing on her equestrian career.

A British Olympic team hopeful for the 2012 games, Zara won the CIC3* competition at the Johnson & Perrott Land Rover International Horse Trials in Ireland over the weekend.

According to friends Zara has laughed off allegations of inappropriate behaviour and onlookers said the 30 year old seemed relaxed and happy as she rode her gelding, Lord Lauries, to victory at the event in County Cork.

British riders Izzy Taylor and Sian Wynne Morris accounted for second and third places, but Army rider Capt. Geoff Curran claimed fourth with the Minister for Defence's Irish-bred Shanaclough Crecoram, while Michael Ryan gave Ireland a fifth place on Michael McGrath's Puissance gelding Dromgurrihy Blue.

Ireland's Declan Cullen triumphed in a top class field of 32 competitors to win the CCI3* riding the 12 year old Glenhill Gold jointly owned with Stephen Orr. Cullen beat Britain's Matthew Wright riding Dark Crusader into second place by just one point. Jayne Doherty riding Ravenstar was third.
