The Zone 16 Masters claimed victory for the second consecutive year at the Pony Club NSW State Mounted Games Championships held on 10 & 11 October 2015.

The Championship is an annual event held in a different location in NSW every year, this year’s event was held at Bungendore Showground and hosted by Pony Clubs in Zone 16. Competitors travelled from Pony Clubs all over NSW for the event, with most riders and their families camping at the grounds for the weekend.

The event was a smooth success, with 10 races spread across two days of competitor. Pony Club competitors enjoyed the strong rivalry between thirty two teams, making up 160 riders.

Teams battled it out in a series of ten fast races including Balloon Bursting, Hurdle and Sword Race, resulting in a cumulative point score over the weekend.

In the Junior Club Team competition the results were incredibly close among teams. With just 1 point separating the first and second place getters, it was The Forest Hillbillies from Forest Hills Pony Club in Zone 23 who took out first place, with the Woonona Warriors very close behind in second.

The Champion in the Associate Zone Teams section was awarded to the Zone 16 Masters from the Murrumbateman region who placed first in 9 of the 10 races over the weekend.

Thank you to Zone 16 Pony Clubs for their tremendous efforts to host the Championship. Pony Club members are looking forward to the next State event; the State Showriding Championships to be held at Parkes on the 5 & 6 December 2015.

The Pony Club NSW State Mounted Games Championships are supported by NSW Sport and Recreation and Mitavite official feed partner, as well as other local sponsors. To find a Pony Club near you visit the state website on www.pcansw.org.au
