Top quality show Hunter pony!

Checkers was a very successful pony who was imported from New Zealand by his current family, under the guidance of Paul Austin in 2022. Under the tuition of Melissa Harding of Melbrock Park, Checkers has taken his 12 year old rider to countless wins and qualifications, as his success has continued in Australia. 

Checkers qualified for Grand Nationals in the Large Hunter Pony 2023 and 2024 and Child’s Large Hunter Pony 2024. He qualified for all 2024 Royal Shows. He is a fabulous, genuine child’s pony and perfect rider class mount. 

Checkers is a beautifully conformed and wonderfully well educated large pony with a soft mouth and beautiful balanced paces. He is wonderful to do anything with - from Grand Nationals indoor workouts, to low level jumping and dressage as well as beach and trail rides. Checkers is also happy to pretend to be a trick riding horse!

Checkers is handled and ridden by children but does need a confident and capable rider as he is educated, willing and has all the buttons. He will take the another lucky child rider to the top!

Checkers does not have any vices, injuries or medical issues. He is easy to catch, shoe, float and handle.

Checkers is very sadly for sale as his rider now has two ponies in the same height class. He will only be sold to an approved and competitive home as he is a very special pony and his owners wish to see him continue his successful career.
