Jett - week 4

Jett - week 1

Further to our previous article about ex-racehorse Jett, who had fallen on hard times but is now embarking on a new life, following is an update at week four.

Read 'A New Life for Jett'.

Jett's new owner, Teale Toohey, reports, "Jett has definitely been responding to his feed and has gained weight in the last couple of weeks. His coat is shining and we are getting a lot of compliments for the way he is looking."

"My main focus for Jett over the last few weeks has been to build up muscle condition and start building his top line. We have been doing lunging to achieve this and also trotting to start getting his rump to fill out."

"I’m very happy with his progress under saddle over the last couple of weeks and feel we are achieving something each time we ride. Jett is starting to listen to my legs and taking more direction from leg aids."

"Jett has been a delight to handle over the last few weeks, I was worried that his hard feed may heat him up a little, but so far he is responding very well. I’m looking forward to  coming weeks, as I’m sure he will progress with his development even more."

It's great to hear that Jett is thriving in this new life and we look forward to hearing of his continued improvement.

If you have rescued an under weight ex-racehorse and are keen to help improve their condition, read 'A New Life for Jett' to hear what Teale has been doing to help Jett gain weight. Make sure your horse has had its teeth done and has been wormed properly, prior to starting on a new feeding regime and remember to gradually build up the amount being fed.
