What a start! Junior competitors received their official back numbers yesterday for the ABCRA Junior National Finals. Bendemeer’s Braith Nock may be small in size but not in reputation. He is once again this year’s number one for the Junior National Finals and without a doubt one of the toughest competitors in the business. Round one was a great night with loads of junior action, along with great performances from Kym Hagon’s horse show, Ashlee Esposito and of course Amber Lawrence making a star performance for Camp Quality.
With a great night of tough competition Samuel Southern won the 8-U11 Steer Ride with a great ride, Braith Nock picked up the second place cheque. Dylan Talbot was the number
one man in the 11-U14 Steer Ride, with Tyson Smith and Jack Ramon splitting second place.
Moore Creek’s Cody Berriman could not be beaten in the 14-U18 Steer Ride, with local competitor Daniel Rogan picking up second place. Bradie Gray put an awesome ride together to take out the Junior Bull Ride, with Mitchell Tidyman picking up second place cheque.
The Barrel Race competitors were quick off the mark with Amy Smith making the big trip from Charters Towers to be the fastest home in the U11 event, closely followed by Braith
Nock. Taya Hill is one of our Western Australian competitors and was number one in the 11-U14 event with Tamworth’s Jade Tribe placing second. Courtney Hallam continues her
winning streak taking out the 14-U18 Juvenile Barrel Race closely followed by Annah Sullivan.
Campbell Hodson is this year’s crowd favourite and the winner of the tough competition in the Junior Breakaway Roping, Jordan Austin also had a quick time to pick up second place.
Each junior is now trying to secure their place in the National Finals Average tally board.
With each contender having put the miles on the board it is now down to the wire and will be a great fight to the end. Make sure you don’t miss the action.
