Diamonds of Potter Park is the quintessential competitive allrounder pony. She was purchased directly from her breeder and has been owned by her current family for the last eight years. All three children have had oodles of fun and success on her - from Sydney Royal to State Championships, eventing, showing, pony club, mustering and swims in the dam - she has done it all! Missy has unfortunately been outgrown and - being like Benjamin Button - looks half her age and has many years left to teach her next young rider.
Bloodlines: Missy is sired by Maximus of Astral (UK), out of Royal Embrace. She is has been registered with EA, SHC, Riding Pony Stud Book and the Saddle Pony Association.
Education, riding and experience: Missy competes at Novice level dressage with good scores. She is well campaigned as an open show pony, loves eventing and showjumping and is unphased by life on a working farm. For the last eight years, she has been handled and ridden by all three children in the family.
Flat work/ dressage: Missy requires a kind, balanced rider with soft hands. She is fabulous on the flat, responsive, willing and well educated.
Jumping: Missy has jumped and evented up to 60cm and is both careful and brave.
Experiences or other skills: Missy is used to ag shows, fire works, busy stables and farm life - trucks, tractors and livestock.
General demeanor under saddle: Missy is well behaved but not completely unflappable. She is a ‘typical riding pony’ and can react to rider nerves by becoming tense and edgy. With a confident rider, Missy is calm and confident. When younger, Missy would test beginner riders by being a bit lazy but she hasn’t done this for many years.
Current workload/ fitness: Missy is currently in light work and is completely fine without being worked a lot or regularly.
Handling: Missy requires minimal maintenance and boasts a lovely temperament, making her a joy to travel with. She always eats and drinks when away and isn't matey with others.
Missy is very straight forward to catch, handle, wash, float, groom, saddle and for the farrier. She is fine to clip (except for her ears) and is wormed by putting drench in her feed.
Behaviour: Reliable and trustworthy. After a long spell, she can be fresh (can do a small pigroot after a jump) for one or two days and is then very settled.
Feeding and management: No special feeding requirements. She does need monitoring when the grass is green in spring.
Medical: No medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Would suit a confident and capable child as a ‘second pony’ or a confident novice child from a horsey home.
Reason for sale: Missy has been very sadly outgrown by all three children in the family. She is in impeccable condition and has many years left to teach
