POA

Amateur-friendly, scopey showjumper

Cambridge, New Zealand

16.3hh, 11 year old gelding, by Corofino II, out of a Cassini II mare. He is a stunning horse with a great personality - a true best friend.

We bought him from Xtreme Stud as a green 5 year old. He had a fabulous brain for jumping from the start and has always been a lot of fun to ride. He is a steady jumper, never hot or strong, with a picture perfect technique. My small 14 year old, just off ponies, was able to bring him on from his first outing to confidently out at 1.20 in his second season. With her work and study taking priority, he has more recently been my pleasure horse. He has continued to have jump training and occasional competitions with a professional to ensure his ongoing development.

He has had several outings at 1.30 in the past two years, jumping very confidently and only taking the odd tired rail. He has won ribbons to 1.25 in competitive classes. Being very adjustable  and turnable, he can do a great jump off. Schooled with ease to 1.40 on numerous occasions but I thought it unfair to step him up at competitions without being fit. By nature he is a genuine horse, willing to go from all sorts of spots, even for less experienced riders. He has plenty of ability and confidence to move up the heights and get consistent results. He just needs dedicated training and fitness and will benefit from building a connection with one rider.

He has good flatwork including flying changes, he is light in the hand and responsive to aids. He has been well exposed beyond competition. He participated in a busy school equestrian academy for two seasons, not batting an eye at the rugby games next door. He has loved cross country training, hacking and track work. Self loads and easy to handle. He has been straightforward to look after, and has been very sound and healthy.

Well-suited to a range of riders (or parents) that want a horse that is steady while having ability to jump the bigger courses. Snaffle-mouthed and easy for a small person to put together and control around a course. He will thrive with a soft rider wanting a horse to aim for juniors or amateurs, building up to young riders or mini prix.

In his handful of outings 2024/2025, he had a 2nd at 1.25 in a strong field and a rug in a 1.20 championship class. At his last ESNZ show at the end of the season he placed in the 1.20 and happily jumped around 1.25. Currently back in work, ready for someone to start building their relationship this season.

Circumstances force heartbreaking sale. My daughter is away studying law, and I am no longer able to keep him out competing. Priced below value to reflect this and negotiable to a loving home that likes to keep life fun for their horses.

Located in Cambridge, New Zealand.
