Introduction: Brazen Moose well-exposed 16.1hh Thoroughbred gelding, Moose brings genuine mileage and a versatile profile for juniors or amateur riders wanting to safely enjoy riding and competing. He’s experienced across the disciplines, straightforward to manage on the ground, and offers a ride that will be fun and confidence building.

Education, skills and experience: Moose has been competed extensively to EvA95 and has showjumped to 1.05m. On the flat he is established and consistent, schooling lateral work including leg yield and shoulder-in, as well as counter canter. He’s schooled cross-country, rides out confidently, and has broad exposure to farm life, traffic, dogs and busy environments. He has been ridden in a snaffle without issue.

General demeanour under saddle: Moose is generally very calm, willing and responsive, and adapts to the competence and confidence of his rider—happy to plod for a novice under instruction, yet steps up with a more capable rider. He’s not reactive unless something significant happens; a small spook is possible if surprised by something major, then he carries on. When asked to work to higher capacity he may be a little tense, he settles easily once a partnership forms. He has no dirt or vices.

Current workload / fitness: Moose is in full work and does not require regular riding to remain reliable and safe. He can easily be brought back in after a spell without a hassle.

Handling: Moose is easy to catch, well mannered, leads and ties quietly, self-loads, travels and unloads without fuss, good to wash, good for the farrier and vet, and tolerant of handler errors. He can be girthy when saddling, but proceeds to work without issue. No separation anxiety; he has been paddocked alone and in various herd arrangements.

Feeding and management: Moose is straightforward, normal doer on a simple hard feed and hay routine. He can be kept in a herd, paddocked alone, or stabled 12 hours/paddocked 12 hours. He is respectful at feed time and tends to be lower in the paddock hierarchy.

Medical history: Moose is currently 100% sound, he is kept shod with work and requires a decent farrier. Moose is up to date with dental and vaccinations for Strangles and Tetanus. A vet check is welcome at buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Best suited to a confident intermediate junior or amateur seeking a reliable allrounder for pony club/interschools, low-level eventing (up to 95cm), or general competition and pleasure riding. He is safe for beginners on the lead and novices under instruction, but he is not ideal for very nervous or highly inexperienced riders due to his willing and responsive nature and tendency to become tense on the flat when new to a partnership.

Reason for sale: Owner has moved on to a higher-level horse.
