5yrs 16.1hh Thoroughbred Gelding – “Trevor”

A once-in-a-lifetime gentleman looking for his forever home

Trevor is without question the kindest, most willing horse I have ever had the privilege to own. He has a heart of gold and a quiet, thoughtful nature that makes every ride feel special.

Purchased as a young horse with the dream of eventing, Trevor has been carefully and correctly produced over the past 18 months in dressage, showjumping, cross country and plenty of trail riding. His favourite place is out on the trails – often solo at sunrise in Scheyville National Park, wandering past kangaroos and deer with his ears pricked and his trademark “I’ve got this” attitude. He is brave and sensible.

Trevor is beautifully mannered and uncomplicated. He is easy to float, shoe, vet, handle and ride, and he comes back after time off exactly the same horse. He is not sharp, silly or difficult – just genuinely lovely.

Unfortunately, after extensive veterinary assessment and full imaging, it has become clear that Trevor’s body is not suited to the demands of high-level performance work. He has kissing spine, and while he is comfortable and happy in light work, he is best suited to a quieter life. On veterinary advice, he will thrive as a trail horse, pleasure mount and preliminary-level dressage horse, but more collected lateral work and intensive schooling would not be fair to him long-term.

This is absolutely not a reflection of his temperament, willingness or heart – only of what his body can comfortably give.

Trevor will suit someone who wants a genuine partner to enjoy, not push.

Full X-rays are available to genuinely interested, experienced homes who understand kissing spine and want a horse to love.

Due to financial circumstances, I am unable to pursue further treatment. Veterinary advice has indicated that management options may include corticosteroid injections and other therapies if we wanted to continue an eventing path.

This is not an urgent sale. Trevor owes me nothing, and he will only go to the very best, most understanding home. If I could keep him just to trail ride forever, I would.
