Introduction: Craigston Mystic Spirit (Joey) is a quality, officially measured 14.2h pony with proven mileage across EA and Pony Club, Joey brings a genuine competition record, established flatwork and a versatile resume. EA-registered and currently competing, he is a lovely prospect for a junior or small adult who wants a competitive pony that also enjoys variety — from dressage/showing through to lower level eventing, show jumping, trail riding and the beach.

Education, skills and experience: Joey has been competed over the last 2 years at Pony Club and EA events, including EV65–80, Show Jumping to 80cm, Combined Training 80cm, and Dressage at Prelim with capability for Novice . He has attended Interschools States, is EA registered for Dressage and Eventing, and is experienced out and about — from busy competition environments to relaxed trail rides and beach swims.

General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle Joey is willing and responsive, light in the bridle and willingly collects when warmed up correctly. He adapts to the rider — tolerant of mistakes, slower with less experienced riders and able to step up with a more experienced partner. He is generally very calm and reliable while not completely unflappable. He can throw in the odd pigroot when in training for harder movements, but remains completely safe.

Current workload / fitness: Joey is in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is currently competing. He does not require daily riding to remain reliable and safe.

Handling: Joey is easy to catch, leads willingly and is straightforward to clip, for the farrier (always happy barefoot) and for the vet. He self-loads and travels well, stands quietly and unloads calmly. At competitions, if left alone at the float, he may decide to go for a wander and check out another horses hay bag. He is very social, settles well in a yard, and is happy to leave friends to go and compete. At feeding time he prefers to be haltered and rugged before feeding - can fuss and get stroppy - if rugging while feeding - a simple, well-managed quirk that is easily handled by his young owner.

Feeding and management: Currently on morning and evening hard feeds with grass hay (lucerne at competitions). Social and happy in his own paddock with a companion in sight.

Medical history: History of gastric ulcers when first arriving from NSW; last treated November 2024 and maintained on a gut supplement since. Minor melanomas that were present prior to current ownership. are checked yearly and haven't progressed. Up to date with vaccinations and dental (3rd of October), up to date with worming and receives regular bodywork. Vet checks welcomed at buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Joey is best matched to a confident Novice to Intermediate junior/young rider or a competitive small adult wanting a genuine pony for Dressage/Showing with the versatility to enjoy eventing/jumping - his 'sweet spot' is below 90cm) - Pony Club and fun days out. He is adaptable and has been “beginner safe”, but he can be sensitive to rider nerves and has simple management quirks (float tying and feeding/rugging routine).

Reason for sale: Joey is super sweet and very much loved by his family. Unfortunately, his rider has moved up to a larger horse with scope to progress up the eventing grades. Joey deserves a competitive home with time to enjoy him and compete him. He loves a 'job' and an adventure!
