Jonquila represents a rare opportunity to acquire a mare of exceptional pedigree, temperament, and proven breeding performance. Offering some of the finest bloodlines currently available onshore, the only mare in Australia from her parents pairing, she will be a valuable asset to a serious and passionate breeder or rider.
A naturally kind, gentle, and sweet‑natured mare, Jonquila moves with elegance and expression, embodying the quality and elasticity synonymous with her Senillosa heritage. She is broken in, currently green and out of work, and is empty and ready for the upcoming breeding season. Whether destined for the breeding or returned to work under saddle, she offers versatility underpinned by quality.
Jonquila is a proven broodmare—she is consistently easy to get in foal (AI), foals down with ease, and is exemplary in her manners. Calm, trusting, and people‑oriented, she is content to have handlers present with her foals, making her a pleasure to manage at all stages. Her temperament is both reliable and refined, exactly as expected from this calibre of breeding.
Jonquila is by Grandioso MG II (IMP Spain), a Grand Prix stallion and son of the calificado SENADO, from the improver stud Yeguada Militar. His lineage includes the influential MALUSO, AGENTE, and REMACHE lines. Out of GRANDIOSA (Marín García), Grandioso MG II carries esteemed bloodlines known for elasticity, suspension, strength, and expression, reinforced by SEVILLANO XI and ALBERO II influences. Briefly campaigned in Spain before importation, he went on to compete successfully in Australia, placing 2nd in Inter I Freestyle just under 70%, and achieving multiple placings at Inter I and PSG with scores exceeding 66%. His outstanding temperament and rideability are consistently reflected in his progeny. Notably, his half-brother competed at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and close relatives include international competitor Ulises de Ymas, currently ranked within the WBFSH Top 200.
On her dam line, Jonquila is equally impressive. Her grandsire Seni INDIO was awarded Silver and Absolute Champion for Best Movements and Functionality at SICAB 2008 and 2016, and competed at Grand Prix level in Australia. Her dam, Seni Zurda (IMP Spain), is an advanced-level competitor and one of the most recognisable and awarded coloured mares in the country, with multiple champion achieved from state through to national level.
Bred for the dressage arena, Jonquila’s compact, powerful frame also makes her a strong contender for the Working Equitation ring. She has successfully passed her breeding assessment (APTA Carta) and holds an IGG value above 103, confirming her strong genetic reliability for passing on favourable dressage traits.
Her retained daughter is expected to mature to 16.3hh , and will pair exceptionally well with the recently imported PRE dressage stallions now available in Australia—further highlighting the mare’s long-term breeding value.
For less than the cost of a horse flight from Spain, this is a genuine opportunity to secure a mare of rare quality, proven performance, and outstanding pedigree. Offered reluctantly, serious enquiries only.
