Gorgeous little OTT Gelding

Flashing Light – “Flash” ✨

15.1hh | 7yo | OTT Thoroughbred Gelding | $3,000

📍 Narrandera, NSW

Flash is a lovely 15.1hh chestnut Thoroughbred gelding, born 23/10/2019, looking for his next partner to continue his education and help him reach his full potential.

Flash had a very short racing career, consisting of just one start on 15 June 2024, and has been off the track since. He was trained by Wayne Austin, with his wife Penny Austin putting some wonderful foundations into him during his racing preparation. Penny considered Flash one of her favourites and saw great potential in him as a future eventer.

Although only 15.1hh, Flash moves like a much bigger horse, with above-average paces and a naturally lovely way of going. He is a genuine, sweet-natured horse with a willing attitude and a real desire to please.

Education & Experience

Flash is quiet and uncomplicated at home. He is still green in his education, as expected for a young OTT with low mileage, and would benefit from a knowledgeable rider to continue building his confidence and experience in new environments. Living on a busy farm, he has settled into farm life well (trucks, tractors, kids flying around on motorbikes ect)

He has attended several ARC rallies, a show jumping clinic and a dressage protocol day, where he scored well and received lovely comments from the judge. He has also behaved well around other horses and shown no horse shyness.

Jumping wise, it’s all still quite new, he can have the odd “Gazelle” moment when all 4 legs leave the ground at the same time 🤣 but he is picking it up the more he does.

Flash is not naughty when out and about; he can simply be a little unsure in unfamiliar surroundings and would benefit from someone willing to take him out and about more and show him the world and build his confidence.

He recently returned from seven weeks off, and I hopped straight on without lunging. He was an absolute gentleman, which speaks volumes about his lovely nature and temperament. I do have video of him with a child riding him, however he is a young and green OTT TB no way near a beginners horse and takes guidance from his rider.

Further Details

● Good to catch

● Excellent for the farrier (currently shod in front shoes only)

● loads on the float well

● Easy and enjoyable to have around

● Low mileage with plenty of potential

● Needs further development of his hind-end strength to improve consistency and connection in the contact

● equimillion eligible

● teeth and vaccinated July 2026

My original goal was to aim Flash at the Newcomers class at Equimillion next year. However, having recently started a new business, I am finding myself time-poor and unable to keep two horses in full work with my current commitments.

I am in absolutely no rush to sell Flash. This is more an expression of interest to see if the right home is out there for him. He has so much to offer the right person, and I would love to see him go to a home where his potential can be nurtured.
