Introduction:

Claude is a rising 4yo, 15.2hh Clydesdale cross gelding with a solid, appealing type and an excellent foundation under saddle. With trail, farm and cattle exposure already in place, Claude is a fabulous option for a rider who enjoys bringing on young horses. He has the presence, conformation, movement and temperament to become a safe, reliable, competitive and fun all rounder.

Education, skills and experience:

Claude is green broken with three established paces and has been ridden both out alone and in company. He has mustering experience, has been on trail outings including roads, and is used to farm life, including tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock and dogs. He leads other horses and has been ridden by multiple riders. Claude is not currently competing due to age.

General demeanour under saddle:

Under saddle, Claude is generally calm and reliable, but he is not unflappable and is still a young, green horse learning his job. He is a forward, sharper type. When ridden correctly, Claude is soft in the bridle and responsive. He is tolerant of rider mistakes and is typically non-reactive unless something significant occurs. Current workload / fitness:

Claude is currently in work three or more times per week and is described as safe to hop straight on after a spell.

Handling:

On the ground, Claude is well mannered, leads and ties quietly, and is easy to wash. He self-loads, travels quietly and unloads calmly. He has not been clipped. Claude can be tricky to catch with new people until he gets to know them, and he needs a capable handler due to his age and size. He is currently shod and is shod with minimal fuss.

Feeding and management:

Claude lives on grass and also receives a small hard feed daily. He can be kept in a herd or on his own. 

Medical history:

The seller reports no past or present medical issues. Claude is up to date with vaccinations and dental. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability:

Claude is best suited to a capable, confident rider with experience producing green, forward, heavier built horses. He is confident, relaxed, soft and responsive with this type of rider.

Claude will not be sold sight unseen. He will not be sold to a nervous rider, a beginner or a novice rider - or anyone lacking experience producing green broken horses.

With further education and exposure, Claude presents as a versatile prospect for pleasure riding, trail riding and, in time, low-level dressage and jumping.  For the right person, Claude offers a genuine opportunity to produce a lovely young Clydesdale Sport Horse.
