Meet Im Roy, aka Roy, aka Toy Boy Roy, aka Roy Roy.
Roy is a 17.1hh gentle giant OTT, by Bramshaw out of Bunny Duster. He had a minuscule racing career (6 races) and ranged from third last to last. Since then, he had a lovely previous owner who evented him at EVA95 and showjumped him up to 1.10m.
I’ve had the pleasure of owning Roy since 2022, it won’t be easy saying goodbye.
I have evented Roy up to EVA80, show jumped up at 95cm/1m at home and dabbled in dressage.
My younger sister (a junior rider at the time) rode him for a year and also evented him up to EVA80 and did a training day round at 95cm for showjumping. She would regularly pull Roy out of the paddock and ride him around in a halter and bareback in walk trot and canter, as well as double dink with a friend.
Roy is happy to be pulled out of the paddock and ridden without a need to lunge him, which is what I currently do when I have the time.
He self loads and is good to shoe, clip, worm etc.
Roy is the same out and about as he is at home, he’ll happily stand by a float with a bag of hay or in a yard. Whilst with me, he has been in a herd paddock with other geldings, a stable, yard, and in a paddock with another gelding. He is happy with friends or paddocked by himself.
Roy’s previous agistment was right next to where bombs were set off for defence and right next to the canberra airport, so he’s quite literally bomb proof and happy with loud noises from planes etc.
Roy is a superstar horse that is trusty for beginner riders as I’ve had numerous friends have their first ride on him, and he is happy going for a trail ride with friends or by himself.
I believe Roy will thrive in a home that is happy to plod around on the trails, some flatwork and some showjumping. He is a keen bean on cross country, so if interested in this, will need an intermediate level rider as he is a big horse and can be eager. There are no nasties with this, just can be strong in the canter. He will enjoy life in the slower lane and would be suitable for a confident amateur rider looking to enjoy themselves.
I have multiple videos of him at competitions and at home, with myself and my sister. Happy to chat further about him and provide these to interested parties.
He is being sold at a cheaper price as he’s been out of consistent work for the last two years due to my university commitments and other horses, and he isn’t being loved on like he deserves. Roy is currently in fluffy paddock condition, like an oversized teddy bear!! Roy definitely deserves to be someone’s priority!
