Introduction: Ultra is a fabulous schoolmaster, confidence-building eventer. She has been produced by her current teenage rider/ owner, under professional guidance, for the last six years. Ultra has the talent and youth to progress up the star levels as well as the experience to teach a young rider or amateur. She was never going to be sold but with her owner’s university commitments looming, she is very reluctantly on the market for an approved home.
Education, skills and experience: Ultra’s owner has brought her on, slowly and correctly. She is currently competing and placing in 1* eventing, 105–115 showjumping and Novice dressage.
Dressage: Ultra is well established in dressage with three even paces. She consistently produces calm and accurate tests. Ultra has a comprehensive dressage education and she willingly collects, remaining balanced, light and soft to ride. She is a sweet, lovely-moving mare.
Showjumping: Ultra is responsive and adjustable as well as competitive against the clock. She is brave and trustworthy around the course and does not stop. Ultra has successfully competed and placed up to 105–115 cm and is currently training at 120.
Cross Country: On cross country, Ultra is super calm in the start box and bold and honest across the course. She absolutely loves jumping and is a true ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse - even over ditches, fill, banks and water. Ultra is very clever and quick with her feet and will jump nearly anything from any angle and any stride. She can always be trusted to bring her rider home safely.
General demeanour under saddle: Ultra is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. Her paces display elasticity and activity suitable for progression up the levels.
Ultra is a willing and responsive mare who is honest and aims to please. She does not have any vices. Ultra is straightforward and trustworthy to ride in all situations - including at competition and outings away from home, and she works well in a group or on her own.
Ultra does not require lunging or an extensive warm-up. She is more competitive and reliable when in regular work, like all performance horses, but she is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Ultra is ridden in a snaffle for all phases and is light and happy in it.
Ultra is good with dogs, motorbikes, tractors and general farm life. She is relaxed at events and makes friends wherever she goes, making her a great horse to camp with at competitions.
Current workload/ fitness: Ultra is in work five to six days a week and is competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Ultra loves people. She is safe and easy to manage and handle, including catching, lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip and float/ truck etc.
Feeding and management: Ultra loves her food and is a good doer. She is fed a simple diet of hay and Coprice.
Medical history: Ultra is not on any supplements, even for preventative purposes. She does not have any past or present medical issues. Ultra did not see a jump until she was six years old, so she has not had any premature wear and tear on her joints.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident rider who will enjoy her talent and willingness. Ultra will be perfect for a teen or adult looking for a kind, competitive and talented partner. She has the rare ability to teach her rider and while also progressing up the grades in any discipline.
Reason for sale: Ultra is an absolute delight! She has been owned by her current rider for the last years six years - progressing from her first ever jump to through 1*! She is adored by her family. Unfortunately, her owner/ rider is heading to university this year and Ultra is far too talented to become a paddock ornament.
