Excellent prospect for a capable rider or for breeding
Keylsa Praize The Princess, affectionately known as Paris, is a beautiful 10-year-old grey mare standing at 15hh. Paris is a Class 1 Purebred Connemara pony, sired by Glenormiston Celtic Prince and out of Celtic Mary O'Hara. She brings a unique blend of pedigree and temperament, making her an excellent companion for the right rider.
Education, skills and experience:
Paris has basic education and was broken in as a 4-year-old. After some time as a broodmare, she was purchased by her current owner in 2023 and subsequently sent for training to become a suitable pony for leisurely rides with Nanna. Paris is safe and quiet near cattle and sheep and demonstrates a calm demeanor around the distractions of farm life, including tractors, trucks, and motorbikes.
Dressage:
While not currently competing, Paris has been on outings to lessons, where she has begun to develop her skills in dressage. She has done 8 weeks training in preparation for sale with P & T Equine Services, where she can be viewed for sale. Paris is soft and light in the bridle. After just four weeks of training, she is now working willingly and comfortably at all three paces.
Showjumping:
Paris has yet to make her mark in showjumping, but her trainer believes with the right guidance, she can excel in this discipline. She willing works over trot poles and low level jumps.
General demeanor under saddle:
When ridden, Paris puts in as much effort as required by the rider. She can be a bit looky, occasionally moving sideways away from something that catches her interest.
Current workload/ fitness:
Paris is currently in work, being ridden five or more times a week. She does not require regular riding to remain reliable and safe, making her a low-maintenance choice for a prospective owner.
Handling and general behaviour:
Paris is well-mannered on the ground and, when in work, she is easy to catch. She leads calmly and willingly, ties up happily without fuss, and loads into float or truck reliably but likes to have a think and not be rushed. Paris stands quietly during travel and unloads calmly. She is easy to wash, calm when clipped, and reliable for the farrier.
Feeding and management:
Paris’s feeding regimen needs to be monitored as with most ‘pony type’ horses. Paris can be kept in a herd situation or alone, and she can be stabled or paddocked as needed.
Medical history:
Paris requires no medical management and has no injuries, or the need for prescription medications. She is up to date with dental.
Rider Suitability:
Paris best suits an intermediate rider, defined as someone who has been riding and competing regularly for at least three years, has independent hands and a balanced position, and can handle a pony that may need guidance. She would also suit junior riders under 18 through to mature riders. Prospective riders should be under regular professional instruction to maximize her potential.
Reason for sale:
Paris is being offered for sale as her elderly rider can no longer ride. The seller is looking for a home where Paris can further her ridden experience in environments such as pony club, adult riders club, trail riding, or low-level competition. The seller believes that, with consistent work, Paris has the potential to be a great all-around pony. A respectful and caring home is essential, as the seller does not wish to see her return to being solely used as a broodmare - although she is happy for Paris to be bred from in the future. A capable teenager, mother, or grandmother will find joy and companionship with Paris.
