Introduction: Pacific View Snowflake, affectionately known as ‘Snowy’, is a sweet and well-educated 12-year-old 12.2hh grey mare who has been a much-loved children’s pony. Snowy has received a correct and thoughtful education and is a kind, reliable pony who is now looking for her next family.
Education, skills and experience: Snowy is well educated and has clearly had significant time invested in her early training. She works off voice commands — click to trot and kiss to canter — produces a lovely square halt and, when ridden correctly, works in a nice frame. She has competed and placed at shows and is familiar with pony club and agricultural show environments.
Dressage/ Showing & Pony Club: Snowy enjoys dressage and showing and is comfortable in the competition environment. At ag shows she can go straight to the ring, while in very busy atmospheres she benefits from a short lunge beforehand. She is safe and predictable.
General demeanor under saddle: Snowy is generally calm and reliable and is safe to hop on after a spell.
Current workload/ fitness: Snowy is currently in light work and ridden one to two times per week. She remains safe and sensible regardless of workload.
Handling and general behaviour: Snowy is very easy to handle. She ties up happily, self-loads and travels quietly, clips easily (including body), washes well and is reliable for the farrier and vet. She is easy for children to catch and handle.
Quirks: Snowy benefits from the use of grass reins when ridden by beginners to prevent grazing. She can be keen at dinner time and may pin her ears during girthing or rugging, but she does not exhibit unsafe behaviour. She is tolerant of rider mistakes but, like all ponies, can become tense if a very nervous child grips with their knees AND becomes very tense on the reins. Please see owner’s response document for further information.
Feeding and management: Snowy is a very good doer and, like all ponies, is managed to prevent weight gain. She prefers to have a companion within sight and is happy with other mares.
Medical history: Snowy has no past or present medical issues, has never foundered and is barefoot. She is up to date with dental work (August 2025) and vaccinations (Tetanus). Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Tack and gear: Snowy has a very soft mouth and is ridden in a Tom Thumb with a Myler-style mouthpiece or equivalent eggbutt. A woollen girth sleeve is used.
Rider Suitability: Beginner Rider defined as a child learning to ride who requires a forgiving pony on the lead. Snowy is best suited as:
A leadline pony for beginners
A first off the lead in an experienced home/ with a confident beginner or an older sibling
A second or third off-the-lead pony under instruction
Reason for sale: Very sad sale as we have more ponies than riders.
Ideal home:An experienced, kind home that will love and understand Snowy. She is a lovely pony who deserves a long-term home where she will be utilised and appreciated.
