also known as Boardy
Preferment x Sea Spray
Foaled September 29, 2020
Career: 6 starts, 2 - 0 - 0 $46,950
$270,000 Yearling at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Showcase Session.
Retired from racing as he didn't show form in his last start at Caulfield on May 31, 2025 - he came 11th.
They brought him in during his last prep and he has showed no interest or improvement. He then spelled with the trainer for about 6-8weeks before coming to me to be rehomed. I have had him since 2/5/26.
Boardy as mentioned is here to be rehomed, not retrained. He will not be sold as a "retrained" horse so please hold this in mind.
Since being here he as been great to handle in all ways. This includes floating, washing, farrier and lunging.
He has lunged over walk and trot poles, as well as some tyres in the field. He shows an ability to learn quickly and an innate carefulness, suggesting he will make a neat little jumper.
He has commenced some bareback work and has shown himself to be a very quiet, but responsive ride with a very beautiful soft contact.
He lunges like a pro and is being used to help someone brush up on their lunging skills. He sits in the side rein very well and will only improve as he regains strength and balance.
I will continue to do work with him to help make his transition easier for when he finds a home to properly commence his retraining.
Boardy is very kind and affectionate, he is very food oriented and is a very in your pocket personality.
In the field he can be dominant around feed with other horses so this must be taken into consideration when selecting a paddock situation. He is by no means excessive with this behaviour but something that must be considered.
He is a wind sucker, this behaviour has zero affect on his appetite and his weight. I have not tried to control it. If he has ad-lib access to hay he does not do it.
I believe Boardy would make a fantastic first OTTB for someone to bring along, or simply an OTTB for someone wanting a quiet reliable PC or ARC mount. I do not believe he would be a horse to go beyond EA105 or 1*/PC1/ARC1 but will be a very fun and safe horse to ride around the lower levels with.
His rider at the track initiated him coming to me to find him a home as he was her favourite and wanted to see him go to a good home. She described him as being beautiful to ride and always carried himself well. Ground staff and the spelling property described him as kind, easy to handle and very unproblematic.
