Introduction:  Ru is a 12-year-old black/brown Thoroughbred gelding by Rothersay out of Fantasy Lass, standing approximately 16hh. Located in Purga, Queensland, he is EA and TSHA registered and presents as an eye-catching, talented performance horse with a strong record and proven ability in showjumping and eventing.

Education, skills and experience:  Ru is a well-educated gelding currently competing in showjumping up to 1.20m, with experience to 1.30m and scope to progress further. He has competed and placed at major events including Canberra and Brisbane Royal, and has also been successful at feature classes such as the OTT feature at Charters Towers and the Nutrien Ag Series in North Queensland. He is balanced and established on the flat, with additional experience in trail riding, cross country schooling, lunging and general exposure to a wide variety of environments including roads, machinery, livestock, dogs and busy stabling situations.

General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle, Ru is willing, responsive and rideable, putting in as much effort as required by his rider. He is soft and light in the bridle, willingly collects and is generally calm and reliable, although not completely unflappable. He is described as naturally brave, adjustable and careful over a fence, making him a genuine and confidence-inspiring ride in his jumping phases.

Current workload / fitness:  Ru is currently in full work and is ridden five or more times per week while actively competing. He does not require constant riding to remain safe and is suitable to hop on after a spell.

Handling:  Ru is easy to handle and well mannered in all routine situations. He is easy to catch, leads calmly, ties up without fuss, loads and travels well and is easy to wash and clip. He is reliable for the farrier, good for the vet and tolerant of handler mistakes.

Behaviour:  Ru has no vices or quirks and presents as a sensible, reliable horse both in and out of work. He is comfortable in a variety of environments and is accustomed to both competition settings and busy stable environments.

Feeding and management:  Ru is currently fed twice daily on a grain mix with chaff, along with lucerne hay. He is adaptable in his management and can be kept in a herd, on his own, or in a combination of paddock and stabling environments, including full-time stabling.

Medical history: Ru has no past or present medical issues. He was last vaccinated in January 2026 for tetanus, strangles and Hendra, and his dental was also completed in January 2026. He is currently shod and a vet check is welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability:  Ru is best suited to a capable rider and would suit a junior, young rider or amateur adult looking for a competitive and genuine horse. He is a particularly appealing option for a rider wanting to progress through the ranks on a talented and experienced horse, while also being suitable for Thoroughbred classes.

Reason for sale:  Ru is offered for sale due to the owner saving to purchase a house. He is ideally suited to a confident and capable rider looking to continue his progression in showjumping and take advantage of his ability and experience.
