Offered for Sale So Magnifique (Aka Mags)

| 16.2h | OTTB Gelding | 11 years Old |

Mags is a big, beautiful, quiet-natured OTTB. He has competed up to Grade 4 dressage while practising Grade 2 tests and is well established in his flatwork with leg yields, walk to canter and flying changes. Mags has schooled up to 1m showjumping with scope to move up the levels with the right rider. He’s a horse with a strong work ethic, knows his job and can get keen within the jumping phases.

We originally brought mags to take up the levels within eventing, but unfortunately, didn’t have the time to further his education. He has competed up to grade 4 usally placing within the top 8 at all events. Mags is a keen horse that enjoys heading out on cross-country and has a big, bold jump. He would take someone far up the levels with the right time put into him, or he could show the ropes to a younger rider, finding their footing within the sport. Mags has also attended some Ag shows where he has produced results, always coming within the placings.

While Mags is a seasoned low-level competition horse, that’s not the only thing he has done. He’s done a bit of everything. He’s worked cattle in the yards and will stand tied up all day without any issues. We have taken him swimming in our dams, been taken on trails all over our farm and have been ridden on the busy main road, and he takes everything in his stride. He has been to many pony club rallies, done mounted games, barrel raced, done time trials, and has done some stockman challenge activities. He has had little kids on him and is always happy to just plod around the paddock.

After time off, he comes back to work easily and willingly. He has never been hot whatsoever after time off and is always happy to go into a frame. He is regularly ridden in a halter and is just as soft as he is with a bit. We have also been doing a lot of bridleless work and are picking up on it and enjoying it. Mags is soft in the mouth, so will require a rider who is kind and quiet. Temperament-wise, he’s incredibly reliable. No buck, rear or bolt whatsoever and has never been dirty towards another horse or human. He can be ridden alone or with other horses, and has been exposed to sheep, dogs, cattle, goats, alpacas, machinery and all aspects of farm life.

On the ground, he’s just as easy. Will stand for the farrier, walks straight onto the float and self-unloads, ties up anywhere and won’t move until you’re back. Mags will stand at fences and gates, and you can hop on him. He’s ridden bareback from the paddock to the shed most days and can be led off the back of a bike.

With Mag’s previous owner, he sustained a paddock injury that resulted in a fractured jaw and the loss of two teeth. He has been fully cleared by vets for all ridden work, and it has never affected him in any way. We have all the records and scans available and would be more than happy to share to those who are interested. He still gets to the dentist annually and has never had any other issues.

This is an incredibly hard sale for us as he is part of the family. He is a very honest and versatile horse that will excel in any discipline you choose to do. The reason he is for sale as rider is heading into year 11/12 and won’t have time to further his education. He will only be going to the best homes.
