Meet Remy, a sweet-natured pony mare looking for the right home to continue her journey. She has been a proven lead-rein pony in previous homes and is now steadily building confidence as an independent, off-lead ridden pony.
I want to be fully transparent about her history and her needs so she ends up in a home that truly suits her.
Remy💕
• 6yo black mare, approx. 11.3½hh
• Unregistered & unbranded (likely cob x with Aussie/RP influence)
• Bought from Laidley sales as a yearling
• Previously a quiet, steady lead-rein pony
• Safe and gentle with kids — I have footage of children sliding off her, crawling under her, standing on her, etc.
• Used as a pack pony, ponied off big horses, attended pony club days & camps
• Walked through water, trotted small courses, rode around all PC activities
• Recently ridden out along the roads with me — not phased by traffic at all
Off-lead riding without giving her appropriate education in a previous home led to confusion, and she began pigrooting. The kids lost confidence, and she was moved on. She eventually returned to her original owner, then to me for retraining.
Homes will be thoroughly vetted so she never ends up in the wrong situation again.
📌 Training With Me – Genuine, Full Honesty
I’ve had Remy for around 3 months. When she arrived she was underweight, flat in temperament, and very sore through her body. Since then she has had:
✔ Dental
✔ Chiropractic
✔ Full bodywork
✔ Correct saddle fitting
✔ Improved diet, weight & muscle
✔ Old saddle sores found but not giving any issues now
Once I started her training it was clear she’d missed key foundational steps and had been asked for things she didn’t understand.
What she does now:
• Walk, trot, and canter solo
• Circles, bending work, cones, barrels
• Popped a small jump confidently and loves it
• Road riding — not bothered by vehicles
• No pigroots since the first week of training
Where she still needs clear guidance:
If she gets confused she may:
• try to take the reins
• run slightly through the bit
• stop or turn away
• get temporarily tense and want to go a bit faster
These moments pass quickly with consistent corrections. I have always finished her rides on a good note. She has never bucked, reared, bolted, or acted dangerously but understandably acted in a way not suited for inexperienced children when she’s off lead. She simply lacks confidence being ridden independently because she spent most of her early riding life following another horse or a handler.
⭐️ Personality
After consistent care and correct handling, Remy has become incredibly sweet, loving and people-oriented, she will meet you at the gate. She loves being let on the lawn so she can help feed all the animals and come up to the back door.
On the ground she:
✔ Catches you
✔ Leads, ties, stands calmly
✔ Hobble trained
✔ Great strong feet, easy to trim (barefoot)
✔ Worms, rugs, washes easily (Was head/neck-shy with water ar first but now totally fine
✔ Past owner (2 owners ago) mentioned very mild “itch” — previous owner nor I have seen any signs of her getting itch despite living in a heavy itch area however I do rug and fly mask all mine anyway.
✔ Floats well — has been to PC, shows, trails with previous homes
Best 🏡
• A younger rider on lead rein
• A confident older child or small knowledgeable adult to keep producing her
• A family willing to be patient and give her consistency
• Someone calm, gentle, clear, and experienced with ponies
She is not ready to be an off-lead beginner pony yet — but she’s on the way, and has all the nature, temperament, and willingness to become one with continued schooling
