Introduction: A genuine, well-educated event horse with a record of consistent placings, Zou offers a quality flatwork foundation, an uncomplicated jump and proven confidence cross country. He is a wonderful, tolerant and talented schoolmaster for riders wanting an established partner to consolidate at 95cm and potentially move up into 1*.

Education, skills and experience: Zou is an educated Schoolmaster type on the flat with lateral work established, a balanced, established Medium trot, and reliable walk–canter/canter–walk. He works in a snaffle most of the time and goes comfortably long and low. Over fences he is uncomplicated with a lovely, consistent rhythm and is described as a brave cross-country horse with zero 'problem' fences. He is super experienced up to 95cm and is ready to step up to 1*. He has also been exposed to trail riding, busy roads, farm machinery and livestock, and is untroubled by dogs and other pets.

General demeanour under saddle: Zou is generally very unflappable and reliable. He is a pleasure to ride and tends to match the rider’s competance level. He can be a little lazy for inexperienced riders. When fit, fresh and full of feed he may do a single pig root or have a small leap if the rider lands unbalanced after a fence. This is very manageable for a capable rider and he is safe at all times. He warms up best with ~15 minutes of long and low to loosen.

Current workload / fitness: Zou is in regular work 5 times per week and currently competing. He does not need daily riding to remain reliable and is safe to hop on after a spell.

Handling: Zou self-loads and travels well, he stands quietly, unloads calmly. He is easy to clip, good for the farrier and vet, and tolerant of handler mistakes. He may occasionally try to nip when being girthed and he is mild windsucker  - which is easily managed with a collar or electric fencing and doesn't affect condition. Like most horses, he does not tolerate hard tying to a solid object but stands quietly when tied with twine.

Feeding and management: Zou is currently on poor pasture with 24/7 access to grassy lucerne and receives hard feed. He is a very good doer for a TB! He is currently shod. Zou can live in a herd, paddocked alone or completely solo, and can be managed stabled 12 hours/paddocked 12 hours.

Medical history: Zou has a high inside cannon bone splint - like many horses - and does not affect soundness. X‑rays show some changes that do not affect performance. Saddle fit is important for Zou, he is ridden in a shimmed thinline pad. He is vaccinated for Tetanus, Strangles and Hendra (January 2026). Last dental January 2026. Past x‑rays available and a vet check welcome at buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Zou is best suited to a capable rider under regular professional instruction. He would suit a committed junior, young rider or amateur (including mature riders) who appreciates an established flatwork horse with reliable 95cm experience and is ready to progress to 1*. Not ideal for a raw beginner; he is very straightforward for a balanced rider.

Reason for sale: Zou is very sadly for sale due to a change in his owner's life circumstances.
