The Cancer Council’s North West Office was presented with a cheque of over $30,000 dollars today following the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Fundraiser hosted in conjunction with the Australian Bushmens Campdraft and Rodeo Association as part of their National Rodeo Finals held during the Country Music Festival.

The ABCRA were proud to support local Charities with their National Finals again this year.  The Friday morning kicked of the day off with the NSW Cancer Council cooking up a breakfast storm, for the first round on the National Finals Campdraft.  The night saw the AELEC arena dressed in a sea of pink for round three of the rodeo finals.  The highlight of the fundraising this year being the auction during intermission.  The Pink Gibson Trailer, RM Williams stock whip, handmade quilt, Yes Optus phones, pink hat and All Round Champion cut outs were up for grabs.  Thanks must go to the Gibson Pink trailer sponsors, RM Williams, Elliot family and a stitch back in time, along with Yes Optus.  Also adding to the tally was donations from the crowd and two dollars from each ticket sale from the night performance.

Cancer Council Community Relations Coordinator Jane Sweeney said “The importance of events like Tough Enough to Wear Pink cannot be denied with more than 1,000 people in the North West region alone being diagnosed with cancer every year.”

“Competitors and spectators on the night were so supportive of our cause which was wonderful to see and really illustrates how cancer affects such a wide audience.” Jane Sweeney said.

Tamworth’s Yes Optus were in huge support of the night this year donating phones for the auction along with a large donation adding to the sizable tally on the night.

Hailed a huge success the ABCRA Tough Enough to Wear Pink fundraiser was held to raise much needed funds and raise awareness and vital funds for breast cancer research.

Thanks to the ABCRA National Finals committee and all those who got involved, donated and supported Tough Enough To Wear Pink, see you again next year.
