Are You Dreaming of Horses?

Do you dream of horses? Literally, I mean?

Not daydreaming, but actually having horses in your dreams when you sleep? We thought it would be fun to find out what dreams about horses are supposed to mean...

According to dream websites, to dream of horses is generally a positive thing, a sign of well being. People with a hidden talent or passion for something often see horses in their dreams. Conversely, horses very rarely appear in dreams of people who are fearful or not in control of their lives.

The meaning of a dream starring a horse or horses depends greatly on the details of the dream and what the horse is, or what it is doing. The significance, I’m told, also varies for different people. When you try to interpret your dreams it has to be in the context of how you are feeling and what is going on in your life at the time of the dream. The same thing in a dream can have different meanings for different people.

I wonder if the same level of significance applies equally to horse people and non-horse people. I mean, if a horse person dreams of riding, is it the same as a non-horse person dreaming of walking, or of taking part in their favourite sport or hobby? Who knows?!

I’m not sure what some people (by this I mean non-horsey people) would make of these interpretations of dreams, but I think you would find these two fairly obvious:-

There will be misfortune for you if you dream of finally catching a runaway horse, but then it gets loose again.

A disobedient horse signifies barriers, and foretells of obstacles you will have to face before succeeding.

Anyway, I ploughed on, and found some amazing and quirky dream meanings....

Colours of Horses

The colour of the horse you dream

about can have meaning.

Black

A black horse can mean something in your life is

about to change or it can signify delays, mystery or wildness. It can be an indicator of the unknown – you are taking a risk with a situation you don’t fully understand. Or, success may come your way, but only because you will be deceitful! If a woman dreams of a black horse she might be fearful of betrayal.

White/Grey

White can mean purity, prosperity and good fortune – a very positive colour of horse to dream about. However, it could be that someone needs your help and you can make a big difference to them.

Bay

Bay may mean you have simple, secure and positive instincts. It can signify enjoyment of wealth and, if you see yourself riding a bay horse, then there will be more wealth to enjoy!

Appies & Pintos

To dream of a piebald or appaloosa shows you will benefit from more than one source.

Dark Grey

Difficulties are ahead if you see a grey horse in your dreams.

Palomino

Dreaming of a palomino always relates to love.

Red or Blue Horses

A red horse means fear, anxiety or negative feelings, (I’m not sure if this applies to chestnuts?) and if the horse is blue then the message may be of sadness.

Dreaming of Riding...

There are so many interpretations of dreams about riding. Anyway, here’s what the dreams are said to mean:

To dream of riding a saddled horse can mean accomplishment, and if you dream of yourself riding bareback it signifies satisfaction through hard work.

To dream of riding or sitting on a horse can indicate a coming rise in your status.

If you dream of riding a galloping horse you want to escape from a situation you’re in.

If you are riding a horse that is out of control, then it means that you are being carried away by your passions, or it could mean your interests will be harmed by the folly of a friend or employer.

If you are riding up a hill and the horse falls but you get to the top, you will succeed, though you will have to struggle against enemies and jealousy. If both the horse and you get to the top, your success will be phenomenal.

To ride a horse downhill means your affairs will disappoint you, or you will experience frustration and disillusionment.

How very specific...!

For a woman to dream that she is riding a white horse up and down a hill, often looking back and seeing someone on a black horse pursuing her can mean she will experience success and sorrow together, but through it all a relentless enemy is working to overshadow her with gloom and disappointment.

If you are just riding any horse and there is merely someone riding behind you this means you’re about to get plenty of attention from the opposite sex!

And if you fall off....

Expect misfortune if you fall from a horse, although it could also mean you have to cope with a rival who is out to get you.

Ouch...!

Being kicked by a horse in your dream is a warning against complacency..... or you may be rejected by

one you love.

Grooming horses

I thought these ones very prophetic:

You are experiencing a burst of energy in some aspect of your life.

It symbolises the hard work that has to be done to reach your goal.

It is a guarantee of success if the horse is shining after you’ve finished.

...and the rest!

Dreaming of a dead horse indicates something in your life that once offered you strength is now gone. It is also said to be a symbol of disappointment.

Foals are great to dream about – good news is coming, or a happy event you will enjoy is on the horizon.

Dreaming of a draft horse is an indicator that you can achieve enrichment, but there will be obstacles in your way.

To dream of a horse trained in a circus and performing beautifully means you have a guardian looking after you.

To see a horse in a stable or barn is the promise of a rich and fulfilling life ahead.

Horseshoes are always a good sign of coming luck and success. To dream of having a horse shod your success is certain, and can also be an omen of unexpected money.

So there you go. If you commonly dream about the everyday things in your life, and horses feature because they’re part of it, you should feel better in the knowledge that all that riding and grooming you do in your sleep will pay off with future good luck and riches. Sweet dreams!
