Stevie Macken has been appointed Chef d’Equipe of the Australian Jumping team.

As well as serving as Chef for the Jumping team at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, Macken will attend preparation events where Australia fields a team, including the Linz and Odense Nations Cup events.

Macken is the son of two-time Olympic Jumping rider Eddie Macken and has himself competed internationally in Jumping at numerous Nations Cup events.

Equestrian Australia’s High Performance Manager Chris Webb said Macken was well positioned to take on the role of Chef d’Equipe for the Australian team.

“Through his upbringing and experience as an international competitor Stevie has acquired a superior knowledge of the sport to perform the necessary duties required by the Chef d’Equipe.

“Stevie has a strong relationship with our key riders and has a thorough understanding of the sport, the shows and elite level competition and we welcome someone of his standing to the Australian Jumping team.

“With the majority of riders that are vying for team selection now based in Europe, having our WEG Chef d’Equipe positioned in the northern hemisphere and working closely with the support staff and the newly appointed captain Edwina Tops-Alexander for the lead-up to the Championships is a huge boost for our team’s preparations,” he said.
