AUSTRALIA'S FAVOURITE HORSEMANSHIP CHALLENGE WOWS OVERSEAS VIEWERS

EQUITANA attendees since its inception in 2005, it now seems that British and European audiences have also fallen under its spell. Horse Rush TV, who produced the TWOTH 2010 DVD, took the footage to the UK's popular "Horse and Country TV" producers and they immediately snapped it up for broadcast. TWOTH 2010 aired at the end of March this year and we recently received reports on its popularity. Horse and Country TV advised that it was the number one rated show in the UK, Netherlands, France, Ireland and Malta, as well as on the Sky Cable Network, reaching 12 million viewers! TWOTH is the only Australian show airing on the largest horse network in Europe and Horse and Country TV is looking forward to airing the 2011 and future challenges. What a great way to showcase Australian Horsemanship to the world!!

THE STORY BEHIND THE GRAND PAVILION STAND NAMES

Each year in planning our event we discuss the naming of the stands in the Grand Pavilion Indoor arena. Being an Olympic year the EQUITANA team decided that we should get into the spirit and chose names for the indoor arena stands that are relevant to some of the memorable horses that have helped Australia win gold. After lots of research, we could not go past the 1960 Rome Summer Olympics story of courage and determination, where despite great odds, our Australian Eventing team gained a place of honour in the equine history books. Australia's team for the Rome games was made up of Brian Crago & Sabre, Laurie Morgan & Salad Days, Bill Roycroft & Our Solo and Neale Lavis with Mirrabooka

YOUTH FORUM – MEET YOUR FAVOURITE EQUESTRIAN AMBASSADORS

EQUITANA Melbourne is proud to host the specialist 'Interactive Youth Forum' for dedicated young riders and their families. The 2012 Youth Forum will give YOU the chance to ask the questions, face to face with some of our country's favourite equestrian ambassadors! A superb line-up of Aussie sporting super stars - including Megan Jones (Eventing), Stephanie Spencer (Dressage) Sharon Jarvis (Para Equestrian Dressage) and Shaun Saunders (Reining) - will share their stories on how they started out in riding and where their passion for their sport has taken them. HorseWyse Magazine's very own Pony Princess Michelle O'Neill will be there too, with some terrific tips for teaching young riders and buying your first horse.
