Great rodeo action at round 1 of the Ironman 4x4 ABCRA National Finals Rodeo!

It was all systems go at Round 1 of the Ironman 4x4 ABCRA National Finals Rodeo. There were thrills, there were spills but above everything else there were cowboys and cowgirls riding their hearts out! 

There were no records broken, but the 1600 strong crowd was treated to non-stop rodeo action with competitors keen to add to their season totals. 

The aim; that much coveted ABCRA National Champion title!

ABCRA competitors throughout the whole of Australia have competed at the various circuits to collect points or prize money towards their annual standings. At the end of the season, the top 15 competitors in each discipline are invited to compete at the Ironman 4x4 ABCRA National Final Rodeo & Campdraft.

Last night local competitor Katina Matthews beat her fellow competitors to take out round 1 of the Tandy Leather Ladies Barrel Race with a time of 17.64 seconds!

Round 2 will kick off tonight at 6.30pm at the AELEC arena.Congratulations to the following Round 1 winners:

  • Bareback Bronc; Wade McCarthy (76 points)

  • Breakaway Roping; Jane Stagg (3.2 sec)

  • Team Roping; Ben Smith & Brody Moss (6.75 sec)

  • Saddle Bronc; Equal firsts to Robert Bandy & Rhys Angland (79 points)

  • Steer Wrestling; Blake Hallam (4.84 sec)

  • Bull Ride; Carl Green (79 points)
