GVRHA Hi Point Series - 'Ride & Slide to America'

Published on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Event Results

This year GVRHA has launched a first for Reining in Australia, a Hi Point Series ‘Ride & Slide to America’. This Series is conducted over FOUR CONTINENTAL AFFILIATE QUALIFIER shows.

The rider’s top three scores out of the four shows will count towards the Intermediate Open & Non Pro riders winning a trip to America.  The Intermediate Open is running for three days tuition with Shawn Flarida, ‘The NRHA’s only 4 Million Dollar rider’. Shawn has kindly donated his time for our club, and the reining world is in a stir as this will be the most valuable three days any Reiner could ever dream of!

The Intermediate Non Pro winner will be sent to Oklahoma City to watch the National Reining Horse Association Futurity.  The Rookie Level 1 division winner has the chance to win an NRHA Montana Silversmith buckle and 12 months subscription to Shawn Flarida’s monthly Personal Trainer Series.  To participate in the Hi Point Series competitors must be a current NRHA & GVRHA member and be eligible to participate in the 3 classes chosen for the series.

The First Continental Affiliate Qualifier (CAQ) Show was held in conjunction with the annual Victorian Reining Horse Association’s State Championship Show held on  25 & 26 February 2011 at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre. This show was momentous to reining as the VRHA celebrated the 20 year anniversary of Reining in Victoria. Competitors travelled from far and wide in pursuit of the 17 Maryann Powell Trails End Trophy Buckles up for grabs and a slice of the prize money throughout the two day program.  Competitors also were contending in the first round of qualifying for the NRHA Continental Affiliate Championships to be held in Tamworth during August this year at the Reining Australia National Show and the GVRHA ‘Ride and Slide to America’ Series challenge.

The first CAQ classes for the ‘Ride & Slide to America’ Series saw Scott Glover riding Ruff Major (pictured above) scoring a 70.5 to lead the Intermediate Open class, under judges Don & Cherise McLaughlin from Queensland.  The Intermediate Non Pro class is being lead by the talented Kerian Moses riding Little Gamble Lena (pictured below) scoring one of the top runs for the weekend a score of 71.... The Rookie Class Level One saw Glenn Hurst riding Mr Cool Dually with a score of 66.5 to lead the class in the run for the NRHA Montana Silversmith buckle.

Keep your eye on www.gvrha.comfor the series tally, next CAQ show will be held at Tatura Park Indoor Arena on the 20 March 2011.
