Help Raise Funds with the 'Horse Ride for Cancer'

Published on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in General

We are all united through the devastating effects of cancer. The truth is, it affects one in two Australians by the age of 85 and is the leading cause of death in Australia. The cost of cancer on our health system is a huge one; it takes approximately $85 Billion a year to treat and care for sufferers.

Cancer takes too many of our loved ones from us. Improvements in care and treatment are needed urgently and the Horse Ride for Cancer aims to support this by raising $1 Million for the Cancer Council, by riding 2545 kilometers on horseback across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

One Hundred Percent of money raised through this event will be donated to the Cancer Council; with costs of petrol, trailers, insurance and the like being personally borne if necessary. This ride will begin in Mildura, Victoria on 12 August 2012 and will conclude 76 days later in Redland Bay, Queensland. The riders will be led by the Co-ordinator and Ride Leader, Chris Bratton (pictured), who is traveling the whole route.

Raising $1Million is no easy task, particularly in such a short period of time. However, through hard work, generosity and dedication we can work together to improve the quality of life of Australians suffering the devastating effects of cancer.

You can donate to the cause, through riding along, giving financial, goods or service donations or participating as a non–rider in the convoy.
