Published on Thursday, October 31, 2013 in General

Updates from an International Large Animal Rescue Conference, being held this weekend in South Australia, will be tweeted from a mannequin rescue horse’s personal Twitter account @rescueRiley

Riley is a full size horse with articulated joints used to train emergency responders, veterinarians, horse owners and livestock transport drivers about what to do to get a large animals such as horses, cattle and sheep out of difficult situations.

Riley often needs to be saved from being stuck in deep mud, falling down a hole or ending up inside an overturned trailer, creating ideal opportunities to train emergency responders, veterinarians and horse event volunteers.

Animals in disasters, general rescue, horse event incident management and road crashes are all being considered by world experts from the UK, USA, Asia & Australia this coming weekend.

Information about the conference, which runs from the 2-3 November at the University of Adelaide, Roseworthy Campus, South Australia can be found on www.horse.org.au
