Man Pleads Guilty Over Dumped Dead Ponies
Published on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in General
A man has pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty after the bodies of 25 ponies were found dumped by the roadside in northern New South Wales.
Pottsvile man Sean Dean appeared in Glen Innes Local Court and pleaded guilty to 25 counts of cruelty upon an animal.
It is alleged he hired a nine-tonne removalist truck in December to shift the ponies around 440 kilometres from a property in Uralla, in the New England region, to Pottsville.
It is believed he intended to train them in Pottsville.
But about 100 kilometres into the journey he allegedly got out to check the animals and found them dead or dying for lack of ventilation.
