Manon Strachan New Chairman of Australian Three Day

Published on Monday, May 9, 2011 in General

Head of South Australian marketing for global professional services firm Deloitte and keen equestrian, Ms Manon Strachan has been appointed Chairman of the Australian International 3 Day Event.

Ms Strachan takes the reins from Ms Leigh McClusky who recently resigned after a five year stint on the board.

Commenting on her appointment Ms Strachan said “Leigh’s commitment over the past five years has been instrumental in developing the Australian International 3 Day Event into the premier equestrian meet in Australia.”

“It’s an honour to be part of the team that will deliver this world class event to more than 30 million viewers across five nations and to in excess of 30,000 on-site patrons.” said Ms Strachan.

In April the Australian International 3 Day Event was awarded global pro-tour status by the international sporting body, The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and joined the global HSBC FEI Classics™ Series.

Ms Strachan explains “The Australian event is one of only six events of its class in the world and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.  Our inclusion in the HSBC FEI Classics™ series is testament to our ability to host world-class events here in Adelaide.”

Welcoming Ms Strachan to the role, Event Director and dual Olympic Gold Medallist Gillian Rolton said “The event has continued to evolve over the years and with our inclusion in the global pro-tour we welcome Manon’s experience and passion in managing large scale businesses and events.”

“This year competitors in Adelaide will be chasing vital points for a share of the $333,000 HSBC FEI Classics™ series prize pool – the largest on offer in eventing.  The best rider and horse combinations will also be working hard to push their case for selection for the London 2012 Olympics.” said Rolton.

Adelaide will host the second leg of the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012 season against the stunning city centre backdrop of the Adelaide Park Lands on 18-20 November 2011.

“Our team is working hard to deliver what will be our biggest event yet.  With riders, horses and spectators from across the globe converging in Adelaide, our 2011 program will have something for everyone.” concluded Ms Strachan.
