The 2011 EA Tekna Young Rider Selection Series kicks off in WA

Published on Monday, July 11, 2011 in General

The Geraldton Combined Equestrian Club held the first round of the Tekna Young Rider series for WA at its three day July Show on Sunday 10 July.

After two days of glorious weather, day three loomed with a threat of thunderstorms and rain.  However, the heavens smiled on the show and after early showers the threat of rain cleared setting up good conditions for what turned out to be a competitive Young Rider Class.

Fred Freeman FEI Course Designer, built the track to specifications for the EA Tekna Series designed by Brad Longhurst.

There were nine starters in the class with four very talented horse and rider combinations jumping clear in the first round.  Three of these riders then jumped further clears in the second round and Stephanie Tucker on her new mount BWS Lincoln jumped a second clear round but incurred one time fault.

First of the clears in the second round was Stephanie Tucker on the well performed horse Why Me with a speedy and accurately ridden course in a time of 68.50  seconds.  Pascale Young followed on Barrabadeen Halifax jumping a calculated clean round in a time of 70.28.  Last into the ring was Georgie Siciliano riding Yalambi’s Soltarella (pictured).  Georgie was the only rider to take the shorter track from 7b to 3 resulting in her winning the class in a time of 68.04.  This was a great feat for Georgie at her first show back following a fall and injury earlier in the year.
