Vale Jenny Langridge – One Courageous Lady!
Jenny Langridge, a valued member of the Young Dressage Association, sadly passed away on Saturday 29 June after a long battle with cancer.
She has been an inspiration to all who knew her and also to the riders and spectators at Dressage events in the region.
Despite ongoing, continuous chemotherapy treatments, her determination to ride her beloved “Turbo” AKA Jaybee Accomplice over the last 18 months was truly amazing.
Not only did Jenny train and compete, she continued to improve this horse, achieving Advanced Champion at the 2012 Canberra Classic. Her latest achievements in Small Tour classes of late just kept getting better and better. She thoroughly enjoyed her lessons with Brett Parbery and others, working on Big Tour movements, always trying and succeeding to improve. She was delighted to watch her new horse “Seal” win at Young Dressage Club’s latest competition only two weeks ago. Never looking for sympathy, such a positive person she was always looking to the future.
Growing up in Coffs Harbour but living in the ACT region and Murrumbateman for many years Jenny rode horses all her life. She was adored by her schnauzer “Lilly” and loved her chooks. Only 48 years old when she passed away she packed many, many things into her life. She worked at CSIRO for 20 years and was very interested in conservation. She was the local Landcare secretary and most recently discovered a great talent for art. In a short space of time she has produced many amazing paintings and had many commissions. She loved craft, scrabble and had a strong network of friends in the local “knitting group”.
Jenny is survived by her mother Esme and brother Robert. She will be sadly missed by all her friends.
Funeral for Jenny will be 3pm on Thursday at Norwood Park Crematorium, Mitchell ACT.
