Jag Classique is the ‘knight in shining armour’ schoolmaster, confidence builder that everyone dreams about! For that, as well as his kindness, good humour and talent - his family absolutely adore him and are forever grateful for having him in their lives.
Jag is an absolutely stunning, sensationally moving horse that is also completely safe and trustworthy. At this level, these safe and sound schoolmaster horses are few and far between.
Conformation: Jag is a classic example of a modern dressage horse - he is built ‘uphill’ and is the picture of strength, balance and symmetry.
Education and experience: Jag is the ultimate schoolmaster dressage horse - with 114 official online dressage results, he has been competing at FEI level since 2016. He has competed at every major venue in Australia, remaining reliable and confident at all times and winning numerous titles and being on multiple high performance squads. Most recently, Jag has been competing Advanced and FEI-J with his junior rider, winning FEI Junior Australian Champion in 2024.
Jag’s has all the ‘tricks’! His ride-ability is unmatched with easy lateral work, consistent medium and extended paces, walk pirouettes and confirmed tempi changes.
Jag is the same at home, as he is at competitions, whether outdoors or indoors. He is relaxed on trail rides, at the beach and doing working equitation. He even has some experience jumping - easily popping around a 45cm jump course at home.
General demeanour under saddle: Jag is responsive and willing. He is soft and 'light' in the bridle and willingly 'collects'. Jag works with a light contact in both a snaffle and double bridle. He is tolerant of rider mistakes and is straightforward enough for amateur or young riders to enjoy and compete.
Current workload/ fitness: Jag is in work 2-3 times a week and is competing. He does not need to be ridden regularly to be safe and his behaviour is not affected by a spell.
Handling: Jag is very well mannered on the ground. He is easy to catch, lead and handle - for farrier, picking out feet, grooming and washing. Jag loads into float and truck very easily, stands quietly when travelling and unloads calmly. He is easy and calm to clip.
When at competitions, his rider does use a chain on his halter, just to make sure he is plodding with her, rather than strutting around for the crowd - he is a supermodel, after all!
Behaviour: Jag is a confidence builder and a true gentleman schoolmaster who is safe for novice riders.
Jag is very calm and reliable. He likes a variety of work, is safe on the trail, being ridden bareback, at the beach and swimming in dams. Jag is not concerned by farm life - tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock, dogs or other pets.
Jag is absolutely safe with no buck, bolt, rear but is not completely unflappable - like 99% of horses, if you jump out at him from behind a bush, he may do a small side step and stop to stare.
Feeding and management: Jag is not fed any special feed or any medication. He is given ulcer protect supplements and 4Cyte - like most performance horses - as a preventative.
Medical history: Jag is 100% sound and without issues, his family welcomes any vet check, xrays, scans and blood tests. We expect Jag would have changes on xrays that are reflective of his age.
Rider Suitability: Novice rider defined as someone who has been riding regularly (multiple times a week) for at least a year, has independent hands and balanced position/seat; can walk, trot and canter. Needs an impeccably well behaved, established schoolmaster type without quirks to be confident.
Jag’s family would like him to be sold to a ‘forever home’ - either a junior with a younger sibling or an adult amateur rider who will enjoy him for the many years left in his performance career.
Reason for sale: Jag is extremely reluctantly for sale.
