Introduction: Bocelli’s Legend/ Ellie is an experienced eventing who has competed successfully to EVA95 level with the scope to go 1*. He has been educated, since he retired from racing, by his owner - who has previously ridden 4*. Ellie has been a reliable, talented and safe horse at all times. Ellie is ideal for a junior or amateur rider seeking a no-fuss, kind and competitive horse for a variety of disciplines.

Education, skills and experience:  Ellie is a brave, willing and reliable horse. On the flat, he is well educated and collects willingly. Ellie is well established to novice level scoring high 60s to low 70%. He is very fun on the flat - a pleasure to ride.

Ellie is a confident showjumper who is training 1m . He has scope, is reliable and responsive. Ellie is honest and brave - he willingly jumps anything from planks to brick walls.

On cross country, Ellie is brave and honest. He always aims to please and is tolerant of a ‘miss’ and a rider who lacks the perfect eye for a distance. 

General demeanor under saddle:  Ellie is a lovely, straightforward and safe horse to ride. He is a ‘parent’s dream horse’ with his willing nature and heart of gold. Ellie is brave, does not spook and is not worried by farm life, trucks, tractors, mowers and dogs. He is fine to ride out on his own, with the kids on their ponies or around cattle.

Current workload/ fitness: Ellie is ridden 3 times a week and is currently competing. 

Handling and general behaviour: Ellie is easy to catch, saddle, groom, wash, travel (load, float, unload), shoe, and handle for dental care. Ellie is a fuss free bloke who takes everything in his stride.

Feeding and management: Ellie can be kept in a herd situation or on his own with other horses in sight. He is currently fed a simple diet of pellets, chaff and hay. He has previously been on a grass buffer, in spring, when on rich dairy country.

Medical history: Ellie was a bit of a failure as a racehorse - having only 10 starts. This means that he didn’t sustain any wear and tear while racing or develop any racehorse habits. 

NOTE re conformation: Ellie is ‘over at the knee’. Pre-sale xrays were ordered by the seller on the 4.12.25 - they show changes that are ‘within normal limits’ for a horse of his age. He is completely sound, not on any supplements or medication and doesn’t have any medical issues.

Rider Suitability: Ellie has a heart of gold and will continue to thrive with someone who is a confident and balanced capable rider, who appreciates his brave, fun nature and versatility. 

Ellie has had a variety of riders on him and he is always safe and reliable. However, he does have scope and a decent jump, so won’t suit beginner or a nervous novice type.

Reason for sale:  Ellie is very reluctantly for sale as he is a much-loved family horse. He is only for sale as his rider’s circumstances have changed. Ellie is too talented and special to sit in the paddock. He is only for sale to the best of homes. 

From his owner: ‘Ellie has adapted to  life on the farm very well, and makes friends with everyone, he loves a carrot as much as he loves a cuddle. I had him as my second string horse for a long time, he certainly deserves someone to be his number one. I must say he has always been my wingman. A very straightforward and  easy horse, who I have enjoyed very much. I  have even lent him to a friend when she had lost confidence in her own horse. He really is a lovely person’.
