True children’s schoolmaster pony

Perfect leadline, first off the lead or second pony
Introduction: Bordershow Space Cowboy, affectionately known as “Cowboy,” is the definition of a true children’s pony. Standing at 11.3hh and 8 years old, this beautiful Welsh Section A gelding has been loved and ridden by children of all ages and happily takes everything in his stride. Cowboy is quiet, kind, trustworthy and adores attention — he will canter up to you in the paddock for cuddles and carrots. He is now looking for his next little rider to love him.
Education, skills and experience: Cowboy is well educated and obedient to voice commands. He has attended pony camps, participated in pony club rallies, and has been exposed to all aspects of farm life. He is safe around cattle, sheep, dogs, machinery and traffic and is unbothered by the “nonsense” of children.
Dressage/ Showing & Pony Club: Cowboy is safe and willing under saddle and adapts beautifully to the ability of his rider. He steps up for an adult rider and then comes straight back down for a small child, making him an exceptional schoolmaster pony. He has competed at pony club level and enjoys being out and about.
Showjumping: Cowboy happily pops around small fences up to 60cm and enjoys cavalettis and cross rails. He is honest, quiet and willing.
General demeanor under saddle: Cowboy is tolerant of rider mistakes, non-reactive unless something major happens and always puts in as much effort as asked. For children riding first off the lead, he may benefit from balance or grass reins, as he may put his head down when standing — he will not pull the reins from a child’s hands.
Current workload/ fitness: Cowboy is currently in work and ridden three or more times per week. He does not require regular riding to remain safe and reliable.
Handling and general behaviour: Cowboy is unflappable and calm to handle. He is easy to catch, well mannered, leads quietly, ties up happily, loads and travels well, is easy to clip, and reliable for the farrier.
Feeding and management: Cowboy is easy to manage. He currently receives hay and a small hard feed due to dry conditions, but has previously lived on grass only. His management is flexible and he can live alone or with others.
Medical history: Cowboy has no current or past medical issues. He is barefoot, vaccinated for Tetanus, and vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Tack and gear: Light and happy in a snaffle bit.
Rider Suitability: Beginner Rider defined as a child learning to ride who requires a forgiving schoolmaster. Cowboy would suit:
Leadline riders
Confident first off the lead (under instruction)
Second pony for a competitive child
Reason for sale: Very sad sale as the child rider is now committed to other sports and Cowboy is going to waste in the paddock.
Ideal home: A loving family looking for a safe, affectionate and reliable pony who will be adored, ridden and included as part of the family.
